An offshore regatta is a long-distance sailing race (several hundred nautical miles) in the open sea, which takes place over several days without stops.

In general terms about everything

regatta

Start in the heart of Istanbul

The start under the Bosphorus bridges is one of the most spectacular moments of the Turkish yachting season.

550 miles of non-stop sailing

The long distance, changing weather conditions, night passages and difficult navigation make the regatta a real test for the team.

Competitors

The regatta features crews from Turkey, and professional offshore racers from various countries come to the race.

Race route

The regatta passes through two straits – the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles – connecting several sea areas and requiring high concentration and tactical thinking from the crews.

Wind conditions

During the regatta period, the Meltemi, a steady northerly and north-easterly summer wind, prevails, strengthening during the day and creating stable, but tactically demanding racing conditions.

How it goes.
 Regatta plan

Our participation plan consists of two parts:

1. Preparation for the start

July 7-9, overnight stay in apartments

Three training days are planned before the regatta, during which the team undergoes full preparation for the offshore race:

• testing sails and equipment

 • practicing maneuvers and assigning roles on board

 • constructing polar diagrams

 • planning tactics for long distances

Preparation allows us to approach the start with a well-coordinated team and an understanding of the tasks for the race.

2. Participation in the Regatta July 10-14 For three days, we'll be competing for prizes and pushing the boat to its limits, and on the final day, we'll attend the awards ceremony. Racing starts: July 10. Award ceremony: July 14.
